When Life Throws you Lemons try Kubera Mudra!

In my own experience, I feel the power of Kubera mudra almost instantly. It can be directed at life’s big events or questions, down to little, everyday occurrences like finding a car spot – and I must say, it’s worked for me when I’ve tried it!

Lately I’ve been working with a really special mudra called Kubera mudra. It is all about manifestation and can really support you in growing that quiet inner space – or attracting anything that your heart is yearning for.

In my own experience, I feel the power of Kubera mudra almost instantly. It can be directed at life’s big events or questions, down to little, everyday occurrences like finding a car spot – and I must say, it’s worked for me when I’ve tried it!

Maximise the effect of mudras by using them in your meditation practice

Western scientific evidence shows beneficial effects around heart function, immunity, mood and a reduction in stress and anxiety! What is not to love about meditation?

You may already have a meditation practice – but if you don’t I recommend you use meditation to help deepen your experience of yoga mudras. A great and simple practice is called ‘square breathing’ which I’ll go into in more detail below.

A short, guided meditation – with square breathing

Sitting in a chair, find a relaxed yet alert posture. Feel calm and lifted through the centre of your body, take Kubera mudra with both hands – bring the tip of the thumb, index and middle finger together and rest your ring and pinky fingers toward the centre of your palm. Hold the gesture with a gentle intention.

Take a moment to feel where you’re at right now in your life. What are your hopes and dreams for the future? Fill your heart space with this question.

When you have formed your question, visualise a square (see diagram above):

  • Breathe in 4 counts
  • Hold 4 counts
  • Exhale 4 counts
  • Hold 4 counts

(That’s one round)

Do this for a few rounds. Ensure the pace is slow and steady. If you feel short of breath you may wish to reduce the counts to 2 or 3. When you feel a quiet space opening within you, holding a wish in your heart to manifest what you seek in your life.
