Energy in Your Hands!

Find out how your fingers can awaken and activate specific energy pathways within

Each finger is associated with a colour, chakra and element. When working with mudras, each finger activates and targets a specific chakra, helping to open and release stuck energy.

If you’re new to the Love Breath Space community, you will know that I have a slight obsession with yoga mudrasyoga for the hands. Yoga mudra origins are mysterious – said to have been passed down by seers over many generations. Each finger is associated with a colour, chakra and element.

When working with mudras, each finger activates and targets a specific chakra, helping to open and release stuck energy. They are incredibly accessible to anyone, and powerful tools that can be used for healing, manifestation and so much more.

Jnana Mudra – connects you to heart wisdom – bringing the thumb (solar plexus) and index finger (heart centre) together

Lately I’ve been exploring the chakras, elements and how they connect to the hands. The five chakras found along the spine align to individual fingers. Mudras engage and activate the chakras.

When working with different mudras you may like to refer back to the graphic in this post to see how they interact with your chakras. If a certain mudra feels supportive to you, investigate which chakras and elements it activates, as this may indicate that a particular chakra needs attention and strengthening.

My Instagram and Facebook pages have lots of beautiful and helpful mudras to explore.

Please note: mudras are simple ancient tools for exploring energies of heart, mind and body and are not presented here as an alternative to professional medical advice.

  1. This is really beautiful and fascinating Em. I intend to understand more about the energies we have in our hands and fingers. I’m particularly interested in how to release a very tight and fearful solar plexus. When my solar plexus is free my singing is so much more in touch and fear free! But it often reverts back to being tight and it’s where I hold heaps of tension. Feels like something is being held captive in there!

    1. Thank you for your beautiful comment Ginny Rose! I really understand what you’re saying about your solar plexus. I too feel like it’s a sort of energy thermometer of sorts. I also am very sensitive to this centre in the body. You could experiment with Merudanda Mudra which is basically a ‘thumbs up’ mudra that you do with both hands resting on your knees while meditating. This mudra helps to rebalance the solar plexus. Let me know if it helps! Mudras are quietly powerful! xx
